Abstract

Twice in 6 months, a 27-year-old recreational runner experienced exertional syncope. An exercise ECG showed an abnormal prolongation of the QTc interval. An EEG suggested a lesion of the right hemisphere that was confirmed with MRI. After the frontal astrocytoma was surgically excised, the ECG abnormality resolved. The authors hypothesize that the frontal lobe tumor caused the prolonged QTc through autonomic pathways. This induced ventricular tachycardia upon exercise and precipitated the patients recurrent syncope. Verf.-Referat
