Abstract
Sustained ventricular tachyarrhythmias, especially those causing sudden cardiac death, are uncommon in young people. When they do occur, underlying heart disease is usually present, sudden cardiac death is rare in individuals with completely normal hearts. This report of a 24-year-old male athlete with arrhythmogenic right ventricular dysplasia includes a simplified, time-saving, four-phase approach to drug selection and points out the value of combinations of drugs vs the use of a single agent.
