Abstract

Several studies investigated the effects of isometric stress test (SHG) (75 )on left ventricular function. We evaluated the role of professional training of 8 football players on systolic time intervals (STI) during SHG and recovery. We compared STI, heart rate (HR), systolic and diastolic blood pressure in this group with data values of 13 sedentary young males of comparable age. We found a remarkable lower value of non-invasive indices of O2 consumption atrest, during SHG and recovery in athletes. STI showed higher values of PEP, PEPLVET and LVET corrected for HR as LVET RR (ETI) at every time in this group. The results could be explained as the effect of an enhanced adrenergic activity in normal individuals by SHG. Athletes instead had a significant influence of vagal tone and probably a higher stroke volume. Verf.-Referat
