Abstract des Autors
A major subject of Richard Cashman's writing on sports history has been cricket. My intention here is to provide an overview of that work, beginning with Patrons, Players and the Crowd, Cashman's early study of Indian cricket, through to his recent biography of Australia's most famous sporting spectator, Yabba. Cashman's cricket writing has embraced a wide range of topics encompassing national histories, crowd studies, biographies and club histories, as well as a social history of women's cricket. I show that apart from demonstrating his own skills as a historian, Cashman has also collaborated with others (as co-author and editor) in producing books of lasting merit.
