Einleitung
We turn our attention towards the role of sport professionals in the health system. Unlike the foregoing studies we will not focus on job opportunities, hierarchies or autonomy, but instead on the role which sport professionals play in health-strategies for the promotion of PA. By ‘health-strategies’ we understand official documents issued by health organisations, which entail either a plan or an action for the promotion of health. Such documents are the basis for health promotion programs in general, and they can therefore provide crucial information about the relevance that is attributed to sport professionals as health experts in health policies. Thus, we will start by explaining the theoretical background of our analysis before we go on to describe our methodological approach. In the subsequent result section we focus on selected aspects of the health system’s rhetoric about the role of sport professionals. This, in turn, will furnish further empirically-based information about a process of medicalization of PA promotion which has the potential to re-shape the societal function of the sport system to a certain extent.
