Abstract

Der Beitrag untersucht den Wandel des Torjubels von den 1960er Jahren bis heute mit einem besonderen Fokus auf dem englischen Fußball in Bezug auf Europa und auf Fußball-Weltmeisterschaften. Auf der Grundlage von qualitativen Studien und populärer Literatur wie Online-Zeitungen, Blogs und DVDs analysiert der Artikel kritisch die besondere soziale, kulturelle und politische Bedeutung des Wandels der Torjubelkultur durch die Darstellung spezifischer Trends und Genres. Der Beitrag bietet abschließend eine vorläufige Theoretisierung gegenwärtiger Entwicklungen an und formuliert kritische Fragen zum offiziellen Torjubeldiskurs von FIFA bzw. FA und deren ‚Spielregeln’.

The chapter explores the changing face of football goal celebrations from the 1960s to the present day with particular focus on English Football and its relationship to Europe and the World Cup. Drawing on a range of qualitative library and popular literature such as online newspapers , blogs and DVD footage the chapter critically examines the particular social, cultural and political significance of changes in football goal celebration culture through a series of specific trends and genres. The chapter concludes by offering a tentative the orisation of the current state of play whilst posing critical questions of official goal celebration discourse evident within FIFA and the Football Association’s 'laws of the game ’.
