Abstract

Within the context of school curriculum physical education, the content of this chapter highlights particular issues relating to the concept of inclusion, when applied to children and young people who are deemed to experience Social, Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (SEBD). It discusses how these issues are circumscribed when enacted within multi-faceted and complex educational environments such as physical education [PE], The inter-actional nature of such environments causes a wide spectrum of polarised experiences that are a product of the visible manifestation of "need" which participation can evoke. The varying contexts, in meeting individual and diverse learning needs, are testament to the complexities inherent in ensuring that the rights of all pupils are accommodated. The rights of the child are both many and varied. For the purpose of this chapter, the foremost right of all learners is that of being included in an equitable experience of PE. Aus der Einleitung
