Abstract

An important part of every complete conditioning program is proper flexibility training. Being flexible provides many benefits in training as well as in daily life activities. Flexibility is responsible for the following benefits: 1. Allows for sport-specific strengthening in motion extremes. 2. Accommodates stresses by helping tissue distribute impact shock and force loads more effectively. 3. Lightens the work of opposing muscle groups by providing less restricted motion and enhances blood supply and tissue nourishment. 4. Allows for good form without compensation from other body segments. 5. Overcomes imbalances created by the specific sport and by daily activities. As strength and conditioning experts, we share these benefits of being flexible with our clientele on a regular basis. Many research studies have focused on the benefits of flexibility training; however, not much is known about the long-term retention of flexibility gains after cessation of training. Textauszug
