Abstract des Autors

Purpose: To examine the effects of a combined endurance/ resistance recreational exercise training on inflammatory and lipid markers in type 2 diabetic patients with oral medication type 2 diabetes. Methods: 63 type 2 diabetes patients, aged 65±9years, with oral medication had a 6 months recreational physical exercise training two times/week for 1h. Plasma levels of C-reactive protein (s-CRP), tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-alpha, interleukin-6 (IL-6), triglyceride, cholesterol, HDL, LDL and specific diabetic parameters were measured at baseline and after 3 and 6 months training period. Results: Physical exercise training resulted after 3 months in a significant increase of IL-6 (2.64 ± 1.40 vs. 2.09 ± 1.66 pg/l) and a very significant decrease of TNF-alpha (12,02 ± 12.53 vs. 11.62 ± 4.92 pg/l). After 6 months no significances in inflammatory markers were seen when compared to baseline levels. Antilipemics and physical training induced no significant decrease in lipidprofile. Patients without antilipemics showed a very significant increase in triglycerides after 6 months (1.65±0.10 vs. 2.05±1.52 mmol/l) and a significant decrease in LDL after 3 months (3.41±0.77 vs. 3.28± 0.81mmol/l) and remained in this level without significance to baseline after 6 months (3.28±0.82 mmol/l). The differences in cholesterol and LDL between these groups were very significant. After 6 months HbA1c and weight remained unaffected (6.29 ± 0.96 vs. 6.39 ± 0,77 % and 88.60 ± 18.70 vs. 88.03 ± 17.59 kg). Conclusions: A 6 months rehabilitative exercise training in type 2 diabetic patients with oral medication two times a week has no persistent significant effect on inflammatory and lipid marker levels.
