This study deals with the problematics of the relationship between the phenomenon of a civil society and the Sokol Philosophy, as presented by civil organization Sokol. In terms of philosophical, historical, political views, the basis and the relations that characterize civil society are introduced. The Czech Sokol Organization (ČOS) is presented as a civil association of physical education and sports. The aim is to investigate how the Sokol association contributes to the development of civil society. The theoretical background is supported by a complex qualitative analysis of data obtained in a non-experimental empirical research. The data collection was carried out using the focus groups technique with a selected social group (the members of the Sokol units). As a technique for quantitative data analysis, clustering of ideas was chosen; it is a method used
in grounded theory. Verf.-Referat
