Abstract des Autors

In foreign countries is spirituality of human motion subject of research at least for
two decades. This theme is not very current at least as empirical research in the Czech Republic. The contribution deals with potential connection of spiritual dimension of human being and possibilities of its transformation through movement in water, more precisely swimming, specifically the Total Immersion swimming. The phenomenon of spirituality is not just religious, it can be understand also as the centre of experiencing or looking for meaning of life (spirit as the specificity of human way of being). To search this dimension in swimming, we used methods such as survey, free word associations, unfinished sentences (n = 28) to search this dimension in swimming. It is evident from the outcomes of this study, that respondents perceive the connection between spirituality and cultivated motion, however exclusion of swimming as unique means for achieving such experiences (or more important than in other sports) is not possible.
