Abstract
In this chapter, the authors draw attention to the theoretical and practical obstacles that impede the understanding of identifying and developing talent. It is their intent that this chapter will be relevant not only as a plan for future research in this area, but as a summary of the boundaries of current knowledge that is intended to assist coaches, athletes and administrators in developing more effective sport policy. Generally, one knows much more about the essential elements of talent development than talent identification. This trend reflects the clear need for more research in order to make informed decisions about the efficacy of talent identification processes. Aus dem Text (geändert)
