Abstract

This book shows in concise form the different topics involved in Tennis Medicine. From a practical point of view it provides scientific information on the present medical problems facing tennis players. This second complete volume includes different topics to those in the previous volume, showing the diversity of medical approaches that tennis is experiencing at the present time. Authors from diverse parts of the world have been included in the writing of this book, approaching each subject in depth. The work is divided into 18 chapters and contains basic science articles such as tissue healing, muscular injuries, uncommon causes of shoulder pain and “tennis elbow”. It includes a series of chapters dedicated to the training, injury prevention and performance optimisation, as well as a separate chapter on the magnetic resonance imaging of muscular lesions. There are also several chapters on applied psychology, rehabilitation and medical problems of wheelchair players. Each chapter has a defined objective and a summary. (Matías Costa Paz, Buenos Aires)
