Abstract

Aim of the study was to examine the changes of physical development and physical capacity of 11-13 year-old girls volleyball players during the first and second years of initial training. Subjects and methods: In total, 20 girl volleyball players were examined. The study had lasted for two years. During the first year of initial training, the girls were at age of 11-12, and 12-13 during the second one. During the first year of initial training, the girl volleyball players have trained for two academic hours (90 min) three times a week. During the summer period, the girls had a rest and the minimum amount of physical activities. In the second year of initial training, the girls have practiced four times a week, two academic hours (90 min) each time. In total, four tests have been carried out. Physical development of the girls volleyball players had been tested by applying the anthropometry method: measuring the height and weight, and hand grip strength. Physical capacity has been tested by the following tests: running exercises at “herringbone pattern”, vertical jumps, long jumps, “sit up and lie down” exercises, the tapping test, sit-and-reach flexibility test, 10x5 meter shuttle run test. Results and conclusions: As we have assumed, summer vacations have made a negative impact an the results after the first training year. The process of training was purposeful, therefore, the majority of results at the end of the second year of initial training have been improved as compared to the ones at other study stages. The indicators of physical development of 11-13-year-old girl volleyball players had a tendency to increase. The averages of height, weight and hand grip dynamometer have increased. During the course, the physical capacity test results of 11-13 year-old girls volleyball players also had a tendency to improve since this age is conducive to development of physical features. The best average improvement was observed in the results of long jumps and tapping. Verf.-Referat
