Abstract
With the spread of Islam in Europe this is an important chapter because it provides an exploration of: socio-cultural theories; discourses of religion, immigration and Islam; and practices related to faith, gender and sport. Theoretical dimensions are applied to a case study of Muslim women in Denmark in order to illustrate ways of increasing understanding through analysing and interpreting a complex and dynamic European situation.
