Abstract

Lifting technique has a dominating influence on the application of the strength potential for a maximum competition result. In scientific weightlifting publications attention has always been focussed on lifting technique. Publications from several countries proof this focus. The reason for the scientific interest in lifting technique is that future international top performances can only be achieved on the basis of a better understanding and control of all performance features of weightlifting. Therefore many countries investigate into weightlifting technique in snatch and clean & jerk. This also applies to Germany. The authors have been researching in lifting technique for many years. Several procedures to monitor the technique of the lifters have been developed and applied in training practise. The major intention in this process has been to support an efficient and successful enhancement of weightlifting technique. To do this both senior elite athletes and promising juniors should get access to uncomplicated technique analyses and easy to understand hints to improve their lifting movements. The goal has been to develop procedures with a sufficient accuracy and which are easy to apply in training sessions. Together with its partner, the Institute for Applied Training Science in Leipzig, the German Weightlifting Association has recently developed a new procedure. This "Weightlifting Analyzer 3.0" has been successfully applied during the last two years in Germany and supports the coaches' work in technique training. Einleitung (geändert und erweitert)
