Abstract

The strength of the lower limb plays an important role in many sports (e.g. speed skating, short track, cross-country skiing). Training of muscular strength is essential to reach an optimal performance in competitions. The standard method to improve this skill is strength training. It was shown that high-intensity strength training (HST) enhances muscle strength of the lower limb. Another method to enhance strength is a sensorimotor training (SMT), which is frequently used in prevention and rehabilitation of the lower leg. SMT also has positive effects on muscle strength of the lower limb.
The present study investigated the effects of a combined SMT and HST on selective muscles of the ankle joint. Einleitung
