Abstract

Within the discussion “About the general didactics and methodology of ski or snow sports instruction” the reasons for the diminishing popularity of cross-country skiing in the “view of ski sports” and in the specific literature are outlined. A first step to promote cross-country skiing with children could be a dedicated ski-curriculum which provides a basis for instruction and development, for orientation and practicing in ski clubs and ski schools as well as for the ski lessons at school. For this purpose some didactic-methodical aspects are considered, e.g.: 1. an extended mind perspective on variety of motivation of cross-country skiing for children, 2. its goal for “the development of an activity and experience range winter landscape”, 3. possible ways of access for children, 4. the required tasks of forming the technical-coordinative prerequisites, and especially, 5. the multivalent usage of its versatile forms of practice, as well as 6. the development of the required abilities of action. The article’s main goal targets to promote rethinking amongst those people responsible in ski clubs and associations which are still predominantly indifferent and disinterested in cross-country skiing with children.
