Abstract

The article examines the possibility that meat from animals given anabolic steriods as a dietary supplement could cause athletes to fail anti-doping tests for steroids without having knowingly ingested them. Although the use of anabolic steriods in animal feed is generally illegal, cases have been detected in China and other countries where food safety laws are loosely enforced. Recommendations are presented for nutrition and dietary policies to be followed by athletes and their support staffs who are traveling to foreign countries for international sports competitions.
