Abstract des Verlegers
The author claims that the role played by the media is ambivalent. On the one hand, the media spreads the passion of sport by producing records. On the other hand, by uncovering the opaquenesses of sport, they disparage or at least banalise the things that can be grand and noble in sport. The influence of the media could enlarge the pursuit of victory for the individual athlete in order to earn money and therefore get more influencial and powerful. According to the author, the aristocracy of sport is affected if its rules are modified because of the demands of television and sponsors. Generally, the disturbances of sport - in case of violence, for example - revealed by the media, are a reflection of the disintegration in contemporanean societies.
