Abstract
Before 1990, the sport development in the territory of the present Czech Republic was mainly realized through the voluntary sector. But during the last 15 years, the image of the Czech sport has completely changed. The year 1989 can be considered as a milestone of these changes with vast political, economic and structural influence on the Czech society as well as on the Czech sport. The voluntary sector lost its dominant position in sport delivery. In addition to the former unified organization - the Czechoslovak Sport Federation, new organizations emerged and started to realize their programmes in sport delivery. Nevertheless, the contemporary democratic spirit in the Czech sport has also caused several problems. One of them is the information on the membership availability in voluntary sector. There, children and youth represent a very important part of sport organizations members. The aim of this paper is to investigate the trends in organized youth and children's sport participation during the last three decades and evaluate the impact of structural changes on the sport voluntary sector. The analysis of sport development after 1989 as well as the analysis of children's and youth memberships bring many difficulties in obtaining objective information useful for sport delivery in the Czech Republic.
