Abstract
Abstract
Decisions in sports organisations must meet a double responsibility – on the one hand the responsibility for the people playing sports and for the securing of the ethical, value-related fundamentals of sport and on the other hand the responsibility for the economic well-being of the sports organisation. This requires an ethics of responsibility that also takes into account the (intended and not intended) consequences of the decisions and actions. This also leads to the question concerning the ethical bases of the evaluation of these consequences and of the decisions themselves and whether the market under the condition of full competition leaves enough scope to comply with this ethics. For answering these questions, a hierarchy of ethical bases which can be relevant for an ethics of responsibility in sports organisations is discussed: the significance of the human rights, the ethics of and in economics, self-bindings, the complex field of different interest groups with different value concepts and power advantages, an ethics of organisations and the ethical challenges in the different phases of rational decisions in sports organisations.
