Abstract
The "37th German Congress of Sports Medicine and Prevention" stood under the motto "Prevention through Movement and Sport" that will accompany German sports medicine on its way into the 21st century. In this supplement issue, most of the 346 abstracts of the Congress are presented here. They involve i.a. the following subjects: cardiology, diagnostics of physical performance, sport and movement at altitude, orthopedics/sports traumatology, exercise in chronic disease, load-carrying capacity - trainability - schoolsport, exercise immunology, shoulder-/muscle-/tendinous-injuries, molecular biology - genetics, spine, angiology/hemostaseology, exercise and environmental conditions, substitution/supplementation, aspects of sports medicine in the elderly, neuromuscular regulation, orthopedic problems of athletic and fitness training, metabolism/regeneration and sciences of training.
