Abstract
This book comprises chapters derived from edited selected papers presented at the International Committee os Sport Pedagogy (ICSP) Symposium within the Pre-Olympic Congress in September in Brisbane, Australia and the 2001 European College of Sport Science (ECSS) Congress in July in Cologne, Germany. Whilst this volume does not lay claim to be a definite text on the deconstrution and reconstrution of physical education, collectively the chapters in it do raise pertinent issues in the debate and indicate both conceptually and contextually some of the directions in which physical education has moved, is moving and should move to secure a sustainable future as an essentially regarded subject in the school curriculum. The authors and their topics are: 1. Hardman, K.: The state and status of physical education in schools: Foundation for deconstruction and reconstruction of physical education. 2.
