Abstract
Injury is defined as damage to body parts, and trauma is a physical injury or wound caused by external force or violence. Rehabilitation is concerned with restoration to maximum potential from a physical, psychological, social, and vocational standpoint of individuals with disabled musculoskeletal systems. Nutritional rehabilitation is the effort to enhance recovery and return to optimum physical function by modulation of nutrient intakes, including overall dietary changes in selection and amounts of foodstuffs, and/or specific increases in intake of micronutrients as dietary supplements. This book will focus on the readily available choices of dietary supplements, since no current text has combined the present knowledge on dietary supplements and injury rehabilitation into one source. The goal of this book is to support the rational use of specific nutrients for specific healing conditions, as indicated by research. Whenever possible, guidelines for nutritional programs applied to specific conditions will be given, so that practical application of the enormous amount of research can be practiced. aus dem Vorwort
