Abstract

The relationship between somatotype and motor manifestations has been studied since 1965 until the present day. Somatotypes, physical performance, body posture level have been measured, youth's motor activity has been recorded as well. Top sportsmen's somatotypes of nowadays differ in some kinds of sport from somatotypes in the past due to the changed training or the changed technique in the respective sport. The relationship between somatotype components and motor performance in adults is expressed by means of correlation analysis. Youths were studied by our own somatotype categorization into zones with regard to motor performance. The most physically efficient are the subjects included in the so-called fourth zone with whom was recorded the best body posture and the highest motor activity. There are motor-talented individuals among them. Most of the children attending sport-classes or training in top sport centres are included in the fourth zone. The pupils included in the first (endomorphs) and the second (ectomorphs) zones score the lowest physical performance and appear to have poor body posture. It was concluded that somatotype is a morphological predisposition of motor and sport efficiency, as well as body posture. Verf.-Referat
