Abstract des Autors
The expertise of the strength and conditioning professional is important for improving the performance of more than just athletes. A growing number of fire and police departments require conditioning for personnel. In addition, most, if not all, of the departments will have physical ability-testing programs that will be required of new recruits as well as incumbents. These new requirements should offer additional employment opportunities for certified strength and conditioning specialists (CSCSs). One very important step in the development of physical abilities testing is the validation of these tests. The purpose of this paper is to delineate the steps that can be taken in validation and to describe how validation was accomplished in 1 large city police department. An understanding of validation procedures will help CSCSs to be better qualified in assisting in the development of testing and training programs for public servants. Verf.-Referat
