Abstract des Autors
Sports injuries are often named for the activity associated with their origin. Elbow injuries are a perfect example. Tennis elbow, golfer's elbow, and Little Leaguer's elbow are well known elbow injuries related to sports. In addition to tennis and other familiar activities, various athletic events can contribute to injury of the elbow region. This article outlines 20 elbow injuries named for their relationship to sports and certain other activities. Most of the injuries are associated with overuse or accumulative trauma. Writer's cramp and student's elbow are included here as these may affect student athletes. Nursemaid's elbow is included for conditioning specialists who work with very young athletes. Miner's elbow, although unrelated to sports and increasingly less common, is included due to similarities with dart thrower's elbow and student's elbow. The mixture of common and clinical names for sport related injuries can be confusing. The following anthology, or collection, is provided in the hopes of abating confusion and facilitating communication between the athletic and health care professions. Verf.-Referat
