Abstract des Autors

Theraband and Surgical tubing exercises have been described as a form of rehabilitation for the injured athlete. These types of resistance exercises may be used for either the upper or lower extremity. One type of lower extremity exercise has been described as surgical tubing, or T-band kicks. It usually involves the athlete kicking in four directions - flexion, extension, and abduction/adduction of the hip - with either Theraband of surgical tubing attached to the uninjured leg. These exercises are thought zo promote proprioception in the injured ankle, but they may be limited because they offer resistance only in one plane or at one angle. This means that when the athlete kicks, resistance from the band occurs only in the direction opposite the movement. For example, when kicking to promote hip flexion, resistance occurs from the band opposite this movement. This article introduces a variation of the standard surgical tubing/band kicks by adding another band to the kicking foot at a different angle. Verf.-Referat
