Abstract des Autors
Monitoring the endogenous steroids cis-androsterone, etiocholanolone, 11-hydroxyandrosterone, 11-hydroxy-etiocholanolone, testosterone and epitestosterone as well as their concentrations in the routine screening procedure for anabolic steroids leads to the conclusion that both parameters - concentrations and steroid profile - were longer decreased respectively altered than the analytical detectibility of applied anabolic steroids. After the introduction of dope control by the International Bodybuilding Federation (IFBB) 1986, a relative large number of urine samples of male athletes became available often accompanied by a logical drug history or by positive steroid findings. So the values of a statistically representative population of steroid users could be compared with those of non-steroid users. The results of this statistical evaluation can be summarized in three points. 1. The concentration of endogenous steroids in urine is decreased in steroid users. 2. Another effect observed in steroid users is the change in the endogenous steroid profile, e.g. the changes in the ratios of isomere steroids like cis-androsterone and etiocholanolone. 3. The decrease in concentration and excretion of anabolic steroids can be observed even if the exogenous anabolic steroids can no longer be detected in the urine.
