Abstract des Autors

A 26-yr-old hockey player suffered from right clacicular pain as a result of playing ice hockey the previous day. Chiropractic, orthopedic, neurological, and radiographic evaluation demonstrated chiropractic subluxation of the lower cervical and upper thoracic spine as well as myofascial trigger points. The patient continued to experience painful abduction above 90ø, persistent swelling over the medial third of the clavicle as well as pin-point tenderness of the area and a positive tuning fork test. A computed tomography scan of the right clavicle demonstrated a pathological fracture of the clavicle caused by a lytic lesion. An orthopedic referral was made and an excision was performed. This case illustrates the need for more rigorous diagnosis when initial management fails to respond appropriately. Verf.-Referat
