The interception of a moving ball entails the perception of the physical characteristics of its path. This perceptual activity requires the use of sources of vissual information. This review highlights the multiplicity of available sources of visual information as well as the variety of the mechanisms involved in visual perception. Several sources are liable to specifiy directly the same physical variable. This potential richness of our perceptual system is consistent with a complementary use of these sources, which then ensures the best matching between the task constraints and the sources of visual information used. The mechanisms liable to participate to the integration process of the sources of visual information are discussed. Verf.-Referat
