Abstract des Autors

Researchers at times interchange the terms "torque", "muscle force", "muscle power" and "muscle function". The question is whether this could be attributed to either a semantic misunderstanding or a degree of ignorance. The facts surrounding these terms are presented by way of discussing the underlying mechanical principles of these terms and applying them to the human body in motion indicating that this practice of interchanging terms is essentially incorrect. It can be assumed that this interchanging of terms is not caused by ignorance. It seems that the extra irritation caused by further experimental procedures to calculate muscle tension (the true parameter concerned), has caused many researchers to ignore the significant conceptual differences underlying these terms. This leads to interchanging them assuming (often correctly) that others in the field will understand this course of action and not question this practice unduly. Verf.-Referat
