Abstract des Autors

Patellar tendinitis (jumper's knee) is still such a disabling condition affecting athletes as a frustrating diagnostic and therapeutic problem for the physicians. Although repetitive stress on the knee extensor mechanism is considered as a typical cause, further considerations are needed about the importance of other disorders as predisposing factors. We compared the relationship between surgical observations, histologic findings and diagnostic imaging. Ultrasonography appears a very suitable method in the detection of patellar and peripatellar tendon changes. CT scans clearly show other alterations involving the extensor mechanism. Verf.-Referat
