Abstract

This book contains papers which leading representatives of sociology of sport presented at the 11th International Seminar for Sociology of Sport held in Vienna from June 29 to July 4, 1993. The theme was "Sport in Space and Time". The articles give the reader the latest ideas on the role of sport in modern society; for example "Sport as a Social Phenomenon", "Sport and Urban Planning/Regional Policies", "Sport and Ecological Problems", "Intercultural Perspectives of the Development of Sport" and "Problems Facing Sport Organisation".
