Abstract des Autors

The purpose of this paper is twofold: First, it describes the research on women in Finnish sport sciences.Secondly, it discusses women's research and femninist science, not only theoretically, but also in practice, and the experiences in a scientific culture in the life-context of researchers.
The analysis of the research in Finnish sport sciences from the perspective of a gender system shows that the amount of women's research is small, and that women lack power and visibility in academic sports professions. The androcentric structure of sciences is discussed presenting data from the social reality of a scientific culture. Through the use of life-history data of researchers and their experiences of scientific work in their daily lives, we get a better understanding of the hidden and invisible basis of a prevailing culture of science.
