Abstract des Autors

Four subjects completed 10x50 m freestyle swims in a 25 m pool peaving on a 2 minute departure interval. Statistical analysis of the consistency of individual performance across a ten trial test indicated a three trial procedure for each swimmer would be representative of that swimmer's normal performance. The 50 m swim time; time taken to swim 5 m in, turn, and then swim 5 m out; time taken to swim 2.5 m in, turn, and then swim 2.5 m out; contact time of feet on wall; peak force on the wall during the turn; and the impulse were recorded. The reliability of a water-proof force platform and the consistency of results achieved via swimming tumble turns was investigated through the use of a ten trial test. The force platform was calibrated horizontally and vertically with static weights. Results indicated that turning forces and time on the wall could be recorded accurately and reliably. Verf.-Referat
