Abstract des Autors
The aim of this study was to establish the relevance, if any, a reference system (arbitrary abscissa units), has for the analysis of cardiopulmonary exercise test variables. The study comprised 10 untrained students, 10 athletes, and 10 triathletes. Throughout the exhaustion-limited bicycle ergometry test, 22 respiratory and hemodynamic variables were recorded. The variables were analyzed in accordance with 5 reference systems: heart rate, relative and absolute oxygen consumption, power, and a new index "power-duration-product." Most of the significant differences were observed in conjunction with the reference system power-duration-product. Irrespective of the exercise protocol used, this reference system permitted a direct comparison of the different groups. Verf.-Referat
