Abstract des Autors

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) has proved to be well suited for demonstration of osteochondral and ligament lesions. Using this method, defects of the hyaline articular cartilage, loosening and vitality/necrosis of osteochondral fragments could be diagnosed with high accuracy in about 200 investigations performed in our department. Lesions of the cruciate ligaments were shown in our 250 MR investigations with a sensitivity of 95%. In contrast, the evaluation of cruciate ligament reconstructions was not so clear. Further, the results of MRI performed in 30 patients before and after surgical treatment of osteochondral lesions are reported. The MRI morphologic changes in intervals up to 3 years are demonstrated. Objectives of an animal study in 20 sheep with reconstruction of the anterior cruciate ligament were to investigate what kind of MRI criteria correlate with poor performance of the neoligament. For that purpose T1- and T2-weighted MRI was compared to the in situ situation, to biomechanical properties, and to water content. Verf.-Referat
