Abstract des Autors
The authors analyse the meniscus, underlining its stabilising capacity, shock-absorbing function, and the protective action it provides for the knee joint cartilage. They examine the casual link between the absence of the meniscus and static and dynamic alteration in joint biomechanics. They then focus on the objectives, purposes and timing of the rehabilitative programme. By defining the rationale of Physical and Rehabilitative Medicine they draw attention to the precision with which the physiatrist restores joint function, muscle capacity and reprogrammes the motor scheme for the full and definitive reinsertion of the injured athlete.
