In sporting subjects some vascular segments may be affected in adversely predisposed anatomical districts. The nervous-vascular bunch in the upper limb is frequently affected near by the thoracic outlet where, in addition to sports activity, like muscular hypertrophy, the repeated and protracted execution of noxious movements and the maintenance of non physiological positions. For this reason the early recognition of a pathological situation of such level is necessary to begin as soon as possible a therapeutical action, which may be physical or surgical, such as to preserve all the competitive potentiality of the athlete. The authors examine the physiopathological aspects of the thoracic outlet syndrome of the athlete and the most common dynamic tests to propose a diagnostic-therapeutic procedure for those subjects practising "risky" sports disciplines.
