Abstract des Autors

In the National Institute for Medical Rehabilitation, we have provided physical education and sport, i.e. sport therapy as part of movement therapy for 20 years. Sport therapy in medical rehabilitation is not the goal but a tool, it does not prepare the disabled person for competition, but uses the method of mobility. Our experience has proved that there is a strong connection among the physical abilities, the culture of motion and communication of the spinal cord injured persons. Based on the above experience we have developed a computer-aided training plan for the period of the medical rehabilitation, taking specifically the injury and indications and contra-indications into consideration. The disabled person is also an active participant in the planning of the training programe, and after fulfilling the plan, they may participate in the modification of the programe according to the accomplishment. They might even be more active in the training, more conscious, more intensive when being included in the planning of the programe. The therapist is led through all the stages of the work with the disabled person by the programe. The assembly of the exercises is logically planned in advance and discussed precisely with the disabled person himself. This method provides more time for the therapist to help and encourage exhausted, and sometimes disappointed patients during the training and trains them for the activities of everyday life and for pedagogical work.
