Abstract

The author gives a brief history of the family background of Tom and Tim Adams who were half white half aborigine. Both brothers were prominant cricketers, and the author outlines their cricket successes. He describes the mission and Poonindie run by the Bishop of Perth (Hale) and the role of cricket within this institution. He explains how the Adams brothers were denied any land claims, despite both brothers living as model workers at Poonindie, and how the captaincy of the Poonindie Eleven granted them no privileges in life. He describes how cricket was used to win early recognition by Hale to win success in their civilising programm. Eaton
