Abstract des Autors
Video-feedback is intuitively an attractive aid in technique training. However, is this kind of feedback more effective than verbal instructions of the coach? And if so, which variables affect its effectiveness? These variables can be divided into three groups: aspects of the movement, qualities of the athlete and the way feedback is presented. For each variable it is explained why a certain influence on effectiveness would be expected on theoretical grounds. After that, it is examined to what extent this expectation is supported by experimental evidence. It can be concluded, that video-feedback probably gives superior results, under certain conditions. However, because of the small number of published experiments and a lack of structure therein, the nature of this conditions is not clear. A more subjective evaluation of theoretical issues and experimental results shows, that certain qualities of the athlete and of the way feedback is presented affect the effectiveness. The relations between these aspects are arranged in a model that can be a guide for further research: the working-hypotheses need further testing and the way variables influence each other should be taken into account.
