Abstract des Autors

The study was undertaken to determine the changes in plasma concentrations of lactate (LA), glucose, free fatty acids (FFA), urea and the activity of creatine kinase (CK) induced by a soccer match-play. The subjects were Polish League players participating in two matches - A (n=7) and B (n=9). Significant post-match increases in LA and FFA concentrations were observed after both matches, and in those of glucose, urea and CK activity only after match B, played against a stronger team than in case of match A. The magnitudes of changes in LA, glucose and FFA depended on the position of players. As compared with the attackers, the defenders performed a less intense work but of longer duration. The results suggest that the post-match plasma LA does not reflect the high intensity of exertion in the match and that those biochemical variables which are specific to aerobic work are more suitable for assessing the effect of repetitive intermittent exercise of variable intensity which is characteristic of competitive soccer.
