Abstract des Autors

Generally the risks of heavy knee injuries caused by sports among children and teenagers are thought not to be very high. This explains, why even injuries with a massive haemarthros are played down. These injuries are often not satisfactorally diagnosed and therefore treated insufficiently. The consequences of this treatment are often arms with lack of athletic ability. We have done more than 250 arthroscopic investigations in children and teenagers and have found heavy injuries like meniscus tears, osteochondral fractures and ligament lesions. Among these are 115 tears of the medcial meniscus, 65 tears of the lateral meniscus and 52 ruptures of the anterior cruciate ligament. The youngest child with a meniscus tear was 3 years old, the youngest with a rupture of the ACL was 11 years old. We demand on more carefulness in treatment of haemarthros in children. Verf.-Referat
