Abstract des Autors

The positive effects of physical excercise in inflammatory rheumatic diseases are commonly acknowledged, so that a wider use should be encouraged. 70 patients ages between 23 and 80 years (x = 52 years) suffering from rheumatic diseases for more than one year (average duration, x = 8.5 years) were questioned about their activity in physical exercise, their knowledge and motivation. Daily physical exercise is performed by 26% of the patients, at least twice a week by 16%, 56% have never been instructed about the possibilities of physical exercise practicable at home. 83% of the patients are not satisfied with their activity. 63% of the inhabitants of small towns and villages claim a lack of motivation. Physiotherapists will have to make it their business to motivate and instruct the patients to practice gymnastics on their own more frequently. Verf.-Referat
