Abstract des Autors
During a 5-year prospective study 158 trained runners and 54 untrained subjects were checked for changes in lipids and lipoproteins in yearly intervals. Runners were divided into 68 joggers, 41 marathoners and 31 5.000 bis 10.000 m runners. All participants matched in height and age. The untrained were heavier. During the study anthropometric parameters did not change. The initially similar total cholesterol rose in both groups step by step, as well as the triglycerides, being initially lower in runners. In the untrained HDL-cholesterol remained constant and LDL-cholesterol rose, and the runners LDL-cholesterol did not change while HDL-cholesterol showed an increase. By running age related increases in serum cholesterol and triglycerides are not prevented. Verf.-Referat
