Abstract des Autors

Marathon runners and triathletes (n = 634) were interviewed with respect to their motives, psychological changes and complaints without any preconceived answer. All athletes participated in events. Promotion of health was quoted first, then self-assertion and reduction of stress. Discrepancies were found in the practical approach of as well as exercise-induced complaints. Intensive information seems to be necessary. Experiences during competition and in case of forced non-training-intervalls indicated psychological dependence, a part of the answers complied with addiction in the self-assessment. Verf.-Referat
