Abstract des Autors
12 male healthy volunteers were examined before, during, and after a 15-min-game of squash. The following parameters were measured: epinephrine and norepinephrine (HPLC, venous), heart rate, blood pressure, peripheral blood flow (venous-occlusion-plethysmography). Plasma levels of the catecholamines increased about 3 times. Heart rate achieved 176 beats/min in average. Two minutes after work load blood pressure tended to increase. Peripheral blood flow increased averaging from 1.9 to 4.8 ml/min per 100 ml tissue. These reactions could only partly be influenced by the two beta-blockers, a non selective blocker with mild ISA (bopindolol) and a cardio-selective blocker (atenolol). Under both beta-blockers the catecholamine levels were higher than under placebo. Heart rate during exercise could be reduced significantly (about 40-56 beats/min less).
